Seeking Voice Representation: Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be an actor?

At Voice Squad we only take on trained actors for English-language representation. There are some exceptions for foreign-language artists, but they would still need voiceover or other professional media experience to qualify.

If you are not a trained actor, please see the advice below under 'I want to get into voice acting - what should I do?'

How do I apply?

If you meet the above requirements, please email your reels (in mp3 format) to voices@voicesquad.com along with any relevant information about yourself.

If we think there is a place for you on our books we will contact you to discuss next steps. We try to reply to all submissions, though we can't offer feedback.

Can I phone the agency for advice?

We ask artists not to phone the agency seeking general guidance on voiceover as a career. Our agents' priority is in seeking and arranging work for our artists - unsolicited calls to discuss representation can take valuable time away from that.

If you have a specific query about the application process you can contact us via our contact form.

Do I need to be based in London?

In general we prefer our artists to be London based, as a great deal of work is done in London studios. However, we will consider artists from anywhere within the UK if they have a good quality home studio. We cannot take on new artists based outside the UK & Ireland.

Do I need a home studio?

Artists are not required to have a home studio, however home studios have become the norm for both artists and clients, so a home-set up is a huge advantage. If you do not have a home set-up you would need to be either based in London, or have easy access to London studios.

Do you represent child actors?

Voice Squad only represents artists who are eighteen or older. Those seeking voice representation for their child should contact agencies who specialise in repping younger artists.

I want to get into voice acting - what should I do?

Voice acting is an exciting industry which a lot of people are interested in being a part of. Unfortunately that means there are lot of highly skilled artists and a lot of competition for work.

While a pleasant voice is helpful, all voiceover requires a range of vocal and performance skills. Artists with acting experience are generally prioritised by clients, so if you don't have an acting background you may struggle when seeking voice representation. At Voice Squad, we do not consider reels from untrained artists.

If you are still passionate about joining the industry and would like an idea of next steps, we recommend getting a professional voice reel made. This is an essential requirement for any voice artist. You can find many options for this online. You can listen to our podcast episode about reels here.
